(C) The kidney acts as an endocrine organ and secretes a peptide hormone called $Erythropoietin$. $Erythropoietin$ is produced by the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney in response to hypoxia (low oxygen levels in the blood). It stimulates the bone marrow to increase the production of red blood cells $(RBCs)$,a process known as erythropoiesis. Gastrin is secreted by the stomach,Secretin by the small intestine, and Aldosterone by the adrenal cortex.
