Portal circulation

Vedclass · Answer

(B) portal system is a circulatory pathway where blood from one capillary bed is collected into a vein and then distributed to another capillary bed before returning to the heart. In this system, the blood does not go directly to the heart but passes through two sets of capillaries. Examples include the hepatic portal system in humans, where blood from the digestive tract is transported to the liver before entering the systemic circulation.
