(D) Geocarpy is a phenomenon where the plant produces its fruits underground. In $Arachis$ $hypogaea$ (groundnut), after fertilization, the flower stalk (gynophore) elongates and grows downwards, pushing the developing ovary into the soil. The fruit then matures underground. Therefore, $Arachis$ is the correct answer.
