(D) The classification of vertebrates ($Subphylum$ $Vertebrata$) begins with the class $Cyclostomata$ (jawless fishes),followed by $Chondrichthyes$ (cartilaginous fishes) and $Osteichthyes$ (bony fishes). Among the tetrapods (four-limbed vertebrates),the class $Amphibia$ is considered the first class to have evolved to live on land, although they are still dependent on water for reproduction. Therefore,in the context of terrestrial vertebrates,$Amphibia$ is the first class.
