Tribal method of shifting cultivation

Vedclass · Answer

(C) The term $Jhoom$ cultivation refers to the traditional method of shifting cultivation practiced by tribal communities. In this system,a patch of forest land is cleared by cutting and burning the vegetation. The land is then used for agriculture for a few years until the soil fertility declines. After that, the area is abandoned to allow the forest to regrow, and the cultivators move to a new patch of land. This practice is also known as slash-and-burn agriculture.
