Latimeria

Vedclass · Answer

(A) living fossil is an extant taxon that closely resembles related species known only from the fossil record. $Latimeria$ (coelacanth) is a classic example of a living fossil because it belongs to a group of fish previously thought to have gone extinct millions of years ago. $Uromastix$ is a genus of lizard, and $Archaeopteryx$ is an extinct transitional fossil, not a living one. Therefore, the correct answer is $Latimeria$.
