(B) The theory of natural selection, also known as Darwinism, was proposed by Charles Darwin in his book 'On the Origin of Species' published in $1859$. This theory explains that individuals with traits better suited to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce, passing these advantageous traits to the next generation. While Alfred Russel Wallace independently conceived the theory of evolution by natural selection,it is primarily attributed to Charles Darwin due to his extensive evidence and documentation.
