(N/A) The law of floatation states that a body will float in a liquid if the weight of the liquid displaced by the submerged part of the body is equal to the total weight of the body.
Mathematically, for a body of mass $M$ floating in a liquid of density $\rho$, the condition is:
$Weight \ of \ the \ body = Weight \ of \ the \ displaced \ liquid$
$Mg = V_{submerged} \rho g$
Where $V_{submerged}$ is the volume of the body submerged in the liquid.

The spring balance $A$ reads $2 \, kg$ with a block $m$ suspended from it. $A$ balance $B$ reads $5 \, kg$ when a beaker filled with liquid is put on the pan of the balance. The two balances are now arranged such that the hanging mass is inside the liquid as shown in the figure. In this situation:

$A$ container contains mercury $(\rho = 13.6 \text{ g/cm}^3)$ and oil $(\rho = 0.8 \text{ g/cm}^3)$. $A$ sphere floats such that half of its volume is in mercury and half of its volume is in oil. What is the density of the material of the sphere in $\text{g/cm}^3$?

$A$ body weighs $50 \,g$ in air and $40 \,g$ in water. How much would it weigh in a liquid of specific gravity $1.5$ (in $\,g$)?

When does a body sink in a liquid? Explain.

$A$ non-conducting body floats in a liquid at $20^{\circ} C$ with $\frac{2}{3}$ of its volume immersed in the liquid. When the liquid temperature is increased to $100^{\circ} C$,$\frac{3}{4}$ of the body's volume is immersed in the liquid. Then the coefficient of real expansion of the liquid is (neglecting the expansion of the container of the liquid):
