(B) The $Phylum Chordata$ is characterized by the presence of a notochord, a dorsal hollow nerve cord, and paired pharyngeal gill slits. The notochord is a mesodermally derived rod-like structure formed on the dorsal side during embryonic development in some animals. Therefore, the notochord is located on the dorsal side of the body.
